Music, Fashion, Guestlist: All You Need To Know About the Royal Wedding After-Party
What wedding wouldn’t be complete without the sounds to get the party going? Apart from the star-studded royalty guestlist, the family shenanigans, and – needless to say – the fashion and of course, Meghan’s dress, the most awaited royal wedding is sure to surpass expectations. After all, this after-party is the most exclusive party on the calendar this year.
“This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the Bride and Groom,” read the memo released by the Kensington Palace shortly after the engagement announcement. So what does that mean in terms of music?
Prince Harry has relationships with several musical acts, so finding the perfect singers should be no problem. His previous royal events have seen the performances of Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, and Coldplay. Though, Meghan Markle’s taste in music will definitely influence that puddle, and she has previously shared about her own favourites like Maggie Rogers, the Crystal Fighters, and Janelle Monae among others.
Well, for one thing, Sir Elton John is set to perform at the festivities. Admittedly, this was pretty much expected, as the musician was a close friend of Prince Harry’s mother, and performed a version of “Candle in the Wind” at her funeral. He also attended Will and Kate’s wedding in 2011. He also rescheduled two concert dates that JUST SO HAPPENED to fall on the same weekend!
As for the Spice Girls, only Victoria, Emma, and Geri were invited – so that probably means the Spice Girls won’t be performing officially. Unless it’s a surprise? That would be a good one. We are expecting big things, since British pop star Ellie Goulding did perform at William and Kate’s reception.
Many other A-lister musicians expressed keenness on performing at the Royal Wedding including Sam Smith who has even joked that he would have to “wear a dress and a crown”. British sensation Stormzy also told interviewers that he would be awestruck at the idea of performing at the Royal Wedding, hinting that he would love an invite.
The Frogmore party will be Tiki-themed, as an homage to one of Harry’s favourite nightclubs, Mahiki. But a noteworthy mention would be the menu! Everybody is talking about the presence of food trucks, what would you expect from such a fun, chill, trendy couple?
The private party will be held at Frogmore House, a few minutes’ drive from the formal reception at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle. An official royal residence and has been in the family for a long time. The estate is usually closed to visitors, and was the location for their official engagement photo shoot.
The guest list for the exclusive party has been kept predictably under wraps, as expected. Obviously, the main cast of the royal family are invited. The members of the cast of Suits are also invited. Harvey Specter (we mean Gabriel Macht) and his wife will be making an appearance, along with some of Meghan’s closest girlfriends, actress Priyanka Chopra, designer Misha Nonoo, stylish Jessica Mulroney, and British reality TV star Millie Mackintosh.
